GEPA gets Otumfour’s support for works in Ashanti Region

… following commissioning of biggest plant

A team of executives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Madam Afua Asabea Asare, has paid a courtesy visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi.

The visit was to appreciate a sense of support the Authority has been receiving from the region and seek Otumfuo’s “blessing” as plans are far advanced to begin the construction of a new GEPA office complex, in Danyame, a suburb in Kumasi.

The new office complex is expected to be constructed at the old site of GEPA’s Ashanti Regional office and will accommodate facilities to efficiently run the Authority’s Export School. The curriculum for the flagship training programme for exporters is also expected to be upgraded to an accredited certified course.

Speaking during the event, Madam Afua Asabea Asare stressed that the edifice when completed, will not only be a plus for her outfit, but a landmark for Asanteman and Ghana as a whole as the Export School will be open to participants from West Africa and beyond.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended Madam Asabea Asare for her efforts in aggressively promoting Ghana’s Exports, a keen observation he had made since she took office in June 2018. He advised the CEO to remain resolute and relentless in ensuring that Ghana’s Export brings in the much needed revenuewhich would in turn contributes enormously to stabilize Ghana’s economy.

The Asantehene urged GEPA to work closely with stakeholders especially in the finance sector to enable them support exporters to produce required volumes to meet export demands.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II wished Madam Asare and her team well and gave his blessings for the upcoming new facility, further indicating that he had “faith” in the competence of persons such as Prof. Alex Dodoo, member of GEPA’s Board of Directors to steer the Authority’s success to benefit the nation at large.
