Some senior staff of the Ebony Magazine from the USA, are currently in Ghana to tour the country and to participate in some upcoming projects by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The visit, in partnership with Sunseekers Tours, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, GTA and in collaboration with the Adinkra Group of USA, was part of efforts to support and promote Ghana as a prime tourist and business destination for African Americans.
Comprising a team of writers and photographers from the iconic, magazine brand, the group’s week-long tour of the country, which started August 21, will end on Friday, August 31, 2018.
Briefing the media on the arrival and purpose of the visit, CEO of GTA, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, said the group which produces the Ebony magazine, would embark on a 10-day tour, participate in the media launch of PANAFEST 2019 and the ‘2019 Year of Return’ which will mark exactly 400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived in the USA.
The team will visit a number of historic tourism attractions and pay courtesy calls on traditional rulers in Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Central regions.
They will also speak with Mrs. Catherine Abelema Afeku, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, officials of the GTA and participate in this year’s Chale Wote Arts Festival, as well as interact with members of the African-American Association of Ghana.
The staff include: Michael Gibson, Chairman and CEO, Rosalind Cummings-Yeates, Journalist, and Tammy Bender, photographer.
They are being hosted by The Adinkra Group CEO, Diallo Sumbry, Kelly Davidson, Publicist along with AfricanAncestry.com President, Dr. Gina Paige.
