As part of official opening ceremony yesterday of East Legon branch of Robert and Sons Optical Services, the Centre is offering free eye screening till Saturday 20th July, 2019.
This is part of goodwill measure to show a sense of appreciation and continuous support to its customers, this is according to the Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Franklin Atta.
“We feel that we also need to give back to the community in which we have come to stay. We could not have come this far without our cherished clients, our partners and all those who believe in our brand and services”, he reiterated.
Visual impairment is seen as a significant impediment to task performance among any working population. A World Health Organisation (WHO) report on the prevalence of visual impairment in Ghana in 2018 indicates that approximately 720,000 people have unchecked eye conditions which subsequently lead to blindness.
The reasons for unchecked eye conditions is largely because some people are genuinely unaware that they have any eye condition, others too are aware but might not have access to a health facility as well as those who are aware of their condition, but might not be able afford cost of treatment.
To scale up the interest in the need for people to have regular eye test, Robert and Sons Optical Services are in constant talks with regulatory bodies, such as the Ministry of Health to create awareness in this process.
The East Legon branch is the 7th to be opened by the company since its nearly 30 years in operation. This is aimed at brining comprehensive eye care services to its clients living around the area and its environ namely Haatso, Spintex and adjoining communities.
