The Spanish Embassy in Ghana has organized a wine fair to allow guests experience the exciting world and variety of Spanish wine.
The event themed ‘Wines from Spain: Explore our ‘Wonderful taste’ was organised by the Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Wednesday October 10.
It had in attendance, some dignitaries from the Spanish Embassy, special guests, invited wine importers and a section of the media.
Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Spanish Embassy, Sylvia Perez in an exclusive interview with Goldstreet Business highlighted the day’s events saying: “we are offering new Spanish winery which don’t have distributors and with seven importers based here, we need to offer to the hospitality to the market and the public the showcase of the new wines and old ones on the market”.
“We also want to educate the professional public with seminars where they can taste the wine so we are organizing these seminars, one in the morning and one in the afternoon to help them understand our products”, she explained.
For the past four years, the office has been organizing wine tasting for professionals in the hospitality industry with more than 95 professionals attending each year. The fair offered more than 96 wines from an array of Spanish DOs & VT regions.
Spain is a large country geographically and has more acreage under grape cultivation than any other country in the world although many vineyards are low-yielding. Overall it is 3rd largest in terms of world-wide wine production and currently one of the main wine exporters to Ghana and its presence is growing fast.
