The 2019 edition of the FITUR International Tourism Fair was opened in the Spanish capital of Madrid. On January 23 and ended yesterday, Sunday January 27.

The official opening was done by the King of Spain Felipe VI of Spain, Secretary General of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Ambassador Zurab Pololikashvili and a host of Spanish and International government Ministers at IFEMA.
FITUR is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound Ibero American markets.
Last year, FITUR has beaten the participation record with 10,190 exhibiting companies from 165 countries/regions, 140,120 trade participants and 110,860 people from the general public.
Morever the volume of agendas organised by FITUR within the different B2B has reached 6,800 business appointments.
The attendance of 7,856 journalists is a turnout that shows the importance of FITUR on the international circuit of tourism industry events.
This year, the event is said to have exceeded expectations as impressive figures of the previous editions, were surpassed this year.
The fair welcomed close to 800 exhibitors and more than 245,000 visitors from around the globe this year.
Highly regarded by professionals, FITUR indicates the recovery of the tourism sector. In 2018, the trade fair saw an increase in international attendance. The strong presence of tech companies developing tourism products is undoubtedly a trend which will continue into the future.
In addition, FITUR will present more destinations, and will feature more business meetings and networking events in the coming years.
Instructively, officials of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority participated in the event this year to market Ghana and to deepen visitor turnout into the country.
