GRA refutes top dismissal claims

Emmanuel Kofi Nti was said to have been sacked

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has dismissed reports that its Commissioner-General, Emmanuel Kofi Nti and two others have been fired.

Reports yesterday, March 12, 2019, indicated that Mr. Kofi Nti as well as Mr. Isaac Crentsil, Commissioner for Customs, and Kwasi Asante Gyimah, in charge of Domestic Tax had been sacked.

The three were said to have been officially informed about the development and had a month to leave office.

But a statement from GRA signed by Kwasi Bobie-Ansah, Assistant Commissioner in charge of Communication & Public Affairs, described the claims as untrue.

A statement to the Goldstreet Business by the GRA, stated, “Management of GRA wishes to state that the allegations does not reflect the situation on the ground,”

“It said the reports as published in the media has no factual basis because the Commissioner General and all his Commissioners are still at post and carrying out their normal duties of ensuring the maximization of revenue for national development.”

It added, “Management of GRA wishes to advise the media that such misleading publications affect the morale of staff and have negative impact on revenue mobilization. It is therefore important for the media to be circumspect in their reportage of such sensitive issues,”.
