Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to visit Jubilee House & Otumfuo on Ghana trip

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will be in Ghana from November 2-6, 2018 at the request of the British Government.

On Friday November 2, the British High Commissioner will host a special reception to celebrate the visit to Ghana of Their Royal Highnesses with the day’s event taking on even more significance as the Duchess marks her 70th Birthday although official celebrations are set for the UK on November 14.

The couple will visit the Jubilee House for a State Banquet celebrating the ties between the UK and Ghana and will be joined by members of the British-Ghanaian Diaspora, members of the UK community in Ghana, and Ghanaians who share a close connection with the UK.

The four day tour and discussions will also touch on shared culture as well as Ghana and the UK’s Commonwealth ties. The royal couple will also partake in commemorative events to acknowledge the sacrifice made by Ghanaian during the First and Second World Wars.

Musicians who have helped define Ghana’s music scene, from highlife to hip-life as well as those who play classic and contemporary music will be given audience by the royal couple.

Their Royal Highnesses’ will also be in Ghana’s Second City of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region where they will confer with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Sunday; November 5 which happens to be Akwasidae (Festival of commemoration of ancestors).

Their Royal Highnesses’ will depart Ghana for Nigeria on November 6 on the final stop of their tour having visited the The Gambia on October 31 before their Ghana visit.
