More than 1,500 skilled job seekers will have the opportunity to network with at least 100 employers for job matching, most especially from the private sector during the second edition of the Ghana Job Fair 2019 for the purpose of recruitment.
The Event which is scheduled to be held at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair on May 23rd 2019 is under the auspices of the Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (GGC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations together with other relevant stakeholders.
The job opening is expected to contribute to levelling unemployment and matching employers demands with the required skills which is aimed at complementing government’s strategies targeted at job creation to reduce unemployment among the youth.
Areas including marketing, advertising, sales, pharmaceutical sector, banking and finance, insurance industry as well as white collar jobs are the opportunities that are in the offing.
To boost this developmental initiative, the GGC -who are the main drivers spearheading the Job Fair, have are intensifying their engagements collaboration with the private sector players such as the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) and the German Chamber for Commerce to promote various job opportunities.
In a run up to the Job Fair, GGC is organizing a number of career guidance and orientation which focus on the current dynamics of the labour market, professional appearance and grooming, occupational therapy as well as acceptable steps in writing a professional CV.
Speaking to the Goldstreet Business during a Media Launch of the Event in Accra last Monday, the Regional Advisor, Ghana and Nigeria for GIZ Mr. Benjamin Woesten said his outfit has been able to attract some number of renowned players from the corporate world to participate in the event.
“We are not only bringing employers and employees together, but to also organize a panel discussion on skills matching, how to organize it and how to make it work to drive Ghana’s economy. There are lots of untapped potential among the youth” he reiterated.
Available records from the GIZ indicate that, out of about 400 participants – mostly university graduates who attended the maiden edition last year, about 25 percent were successful in securing jobs and the Organisers are determined to surpass this indicator.
Since the opening of the Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, the German Development Partners (GIZ) has initiated for about 260 people to be employed and the Centre has reiterated its commitment to boost this number very considerably at the upcoming job fair.
