The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has won the bronze award for the ‘Best Government use of Social Media’ (Citizen Engagement) at the 8th Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA) 2018.
The Ghana Police Service (GPS) and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) won Gold and Silver respectively.
Mr. John Atta Kakra Kusi, a Senior Corporate Affairs Officer who received the award on behalf of the board of directors, management and staff of the GTA, said “ the Authority would continue to work to improve the it’s mandate for tourism enterprises and all players in the tourism industry.
GITTA is an award programme, centered on the promotion of quality service delivery in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sector, meant to promote innovation and excellence in the country’s ICT sector.
The award scheme has been in existence for the past eight years, recognizing 54 different categories of related activities.
This year was the first time the Ghana Tourism Authority was nominated in any of the categories and under the Rapid ICT Innovation/ Transformation instituted by the CEO of the Authority, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman.
Guest speaker for the event and Deputy Minister of Communication, Mr. George Andah charged the awardees to continue in their quest to be the best and sustain the good work they have been recognized for.
