Zonta e-Club of West Africa is now a chartered organization in Ghana being the latest addition to the Zonta International family.
The club has been operational on the African continent since 1970 currently boasts of nineteen clubs.
The e-Club of West Africa received its charter following the visit of the Governor of the Zonta International District 18, Mrs. Yvonne Kouloufoua, who met with members of the five clubs.
The club seeks to engage in local service and advocacy projects that empower women, initiate programs that eliminate violence against women and bring an end to child marriage.
Like all Zonta clubs, it will also participate in Zonta International Foundation’s scholarship and award programs and the provision of learning and leadership opportunities for its members.
Zonta is fully committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Number 5, which focuses on gender equality and envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as a notable human right.
Zonta envisions a world where women are able to achieve their full potentials, where access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis.

Zonta’s first club was established in Buffalo, New York, in November 1919 and membership today stands at approximately 30,000 Zontians in 66 countries.
Zonta advocates through its General Consultative Status with the United Nations and Participatory Status at the Council of Europe.
The Zonta International Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, which supports an extensive international service program through the contributions of Zonta clubs, individual Zontians and friends.
The e-club conducts its business electronically, and targets executives or professionals in a recognized business, institutions and professions.
The club provides more flexibility in terms of geographic location, time and greater use of social media.
Online meetings are extremely convenient for members who find it difficult to attend meetings due to long commutes and family responsibilities.
Members in Accra and its environs as well as other regions and abroad support the club activities in advancing the status of women and girls worldwide.
