There has been a rise in the transfer of funds from ezwich accounts to mobile money wallets since the roll out of the second phase of the mobile money interoperability system on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
Since January 2019, there have been transfer from ezwich wallets 9000 times with values exceeding GHc1 million.
The CEO of GhIPSS, Archie Hesse notes the third phase roll out of the mobile money interoperability platform will see merchants also being able to do transfers seamlessly.
Between May and October last year, the mobile money interoperability platform had recorded 1.4 million worth of transaction with value of over 140 million cedis.
The three uniquely interoperable platforms; bank accounts, mobile money platforms, bank account, ezwich, mobile money platforms, have been connected making Ghana one of the few in the world to achieve a full universal interoperability in the sub region.
The phase two of the mobile money interoperability allows one to send and receive money from a mobile money account to an ezwich account.
