The construction sector in Ghana is set for a major boost, with the launch of the maiden Africa Build Show, which will be held in 2020.
MIE Groups, the global trade fair organizer and consultancy, through its local partner GEO Vision, on Tuesday officially launched Africa Build Show (ABS). This ground-breaking business-to-business (B2B) platform will be held on 03- 05 June in Accra, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
In an interview, the Frist Vice President of Ghana Real Estate Development Association (GREDA) ,Stephen Debrah-Ablormeti said, “Prior to the launch of the Africa Build Show, GREDA members would always have to travel around the world sourcing for manufacturers and other strategic partners to be able to import raw materials to be able to deliver housing units to Ghanaians.”
“So, if we have a strategic partner like the MIE Groups to bring in all these manufacturers and eliminating the middle men, takes half of our burden away,” He stated.
Fadi Kaddoura, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, commented: “This new B2B event strengthens the position of Ghana as a gateway, trading hub and re-export centre in West Africa and the entire continent.”
Kaddoura added: “With the advent of the 54-country trade bloc AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Agreement), we feel that the time is right to bring architects, building material suppliers, developers, real estate firms and ICT firms from across the globe together and provide them a one-stop-shop for business match making to lift Africa’s roads, railways, bridges, ports and airport to the next level.”
David Wang, Founder and Managing Director, MIE Groups, Dubai, said: “According to the World Bank, IMF, G20, and the African Development Bank, the continent faces a multi-trillion-dollar infrastructure gap in the coming years. We regard this challenge as an opportunity to launch Africa Build Show 2020.”
Africa Build Show will be co-located with the 4th edition of CTW Ghana trade fair and conference which will run from 03 – 05 June 2020 in Accra.
Zahoor Ahmed, Vice President Strategy and Partnerships, MIE Groups, said: “With Ghana leading the pack of Africa’s fastest growing economies, we felt that Accra is the right place to kick off ABS 2020.”
ABS will be co-located with CTW Ghana, the successful trade fair and conference held annually in Accra.
