…as Zonda Tec and Sinotruk opens heavy-duty plant next year
Government’s flagship initiative, the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy, will receive further boost as Zonda Tec and Sinotruk prepares to operate the first heavy duty vehicle assembling plant in Ghana.
The facility, which is under construction at Tema, is 85 percent complete. The first phase will employ about 250 workers when official operations begin in the first quarter of 2019.
The plant is expected to assemble tipper trucks, oil tankers, light trucks, tricycles and heavy-duty vehicle spare parts for sale and for exports within the sub-region.
Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, a professional heavy-duty trading company, has since 2012 entered into collaboration with Sinotruk, a Chinese state-owned company, to embark on this project.
Interests in the project were further deepened, following President Nana Addo’s recent visit to China where he interacted with managers of Sinotruk on the possibility of siting an assembling plant in the country.
Zonda Tec’s CEO, Yang Yang said, the invitation from the President to Sinotruk, was what necessitated a collaboration with Zonda Tec for the establishment of the facility.
She noted the plant will serve other countries in the sub-region and will offer job opportunities to Ghanaians and other citizens in the sub-region.

MP’s remark
Member of Parliament for Ahanta West Constituency, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, expressed satisfaction towards the regional office and urged Zonda Tec to give opportunities to young people in the area through employment offers.
“Employment creation is a priority for this government and it is the reason why the business environment continuous to receive support from the President. Replicate that confidence by offering jobs to the youth in the area,” Mr. Kojo Kum implored.
