  • targets over 500 staff in that region across the value chain
  • counting on ‘1D1F’ and ‘Stimulus Package’ to expand to other regions

Indigenous beverage and liquor producer, Kasapreko Company Limited, will from September next year open a second manufacturing facility in Kumasi.

The factory, currently about 50 per cent complete will be specifically located at Tanoso, according to the company. It will however focus mainly on producing the company’s bottled water brand, Awake, fruit juices and other soft drink brands.

Kasapreko’s Managing Director, Richard Adjei confirmed to the Goldstreet Business that the motivation behind the expansion drive was necessitated by the need to meet the growing demand from the market.

“We have resolved to add additional brands to the existing products to meet the needs of our customers in Ghana, the sub-region and on the continent,” he said.

Instructively, Kasapreko has acquired a South African franchise from spirit manufacturer Distell, to exclusively produce and sell Savanna Dry Cider, Hunters Gold Cider, Hunters Dry Cider, Knights whisky and 4th Street Wine in Ghana.

“This basically means one thing; we’ll be employing more hands across the value chain in addition to our current 1200 staff in Accra. The ciders will be produced in our factory here on Spintex, Accra since we have completed work on the production line,” Mr. Adjei revealed.

By September 2019, Kasapreko expects to have not less than 2000 staff within the value chain across the country.

The company, hopes to leverage on government’s 1D1F initiative to open production lines in other regions across the country.

“We’ll definitely be content to have that support which we’ll be considering soon,” Richard Adjei said.

With Kasapreko, having a sizeable market share in Nigeria and South Africa coupled with other opportunities in the sub-region, the company’s expansion drive could serve as major catalyst for employment creation.
