Standard Chartered Bank has on Wednesday, October 3 inaugurated a new 13-storey Ghana head office building to add to Accra’s skyline to demonstrate the bank’s long term commitment to its clients and communities.
Mrs. Mansa Nettey, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana speaking at the inaugural ceremony in Accra said; ‘’not only does the building contribute to Accra’s skyline but incorporates an environmentally sustainable design to reduce impact on the environment and protect the planet for the benefit of our communities.
The building located on the Independence Avenue in Accra, according to her, is a strong endorsement of the banks assurance in offering quality banking services to its clients and staff.
‘’The building is a symbol of innovation, efficiency that demonstrates the bank’s commitment to quality and sustainability and we are pleased to have reached this milestone with all our cherished customers and staff,’’ Mrs Nettey said.
Board Chairman of the Bank, Dr. Oteng Kumah said the building project has not diluted the banks enduring commitment to its shareholders, employees and the community.
Mr. Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered PLC in his remarks said; ‘’our investment in Ghana is another important strategic step to enable access to a poll of highly skilled talent who can support our ambitions to be an employer choice. Ghana is a strategically important market for us and we are committed to building a sustainable business and expertise to support our clients growth,’’ he added.
Mr Winter thanked the government of Ghana, Board, Management and staff of the bank for its longstanding achievements in the past and the present.
Tour of the new Head Office
During a tour of the building with the media, the state-of-the-art premises comprises of a trading floor and exquisite banking halls with a transformative impact of technology on the modern workplace.
There are 650 workstations with 26 multi-purpose meeting rooms and collaborative zones that include focus rooms, video conferencing rooms, adjustable desks, phone booths and an intelligent building management systems.
In creating diversity and an inclusive environment for its clients and staff, the building has a multi-faith room, a nursing station for working mothers and a crèche for children for its staff.
Customers and staff of the bank will have a variety of space to support different types of work activities and styles.
The building meets the Ghana approved green building standards and achieves the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification especially in energy savings and water efficiency.
