Accra is set to host the seventh edition of All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture (AACAA) from July 29th to August 2, 2019.
The main objective of the conference is to facilitate the use of technical policy and institutional innovations to address the current and emerging challenges of African animal agriculture by engaging communities of practitioners, not only in the continent but beyond. This is according to All Africa Society for Animal Production, (AASAP) which is the main organizer of the event.
A number of individuals, groups and institutions with interest in animal sciences and related areas such as nutrition and feeding, genetics and breeding, health and other aspects of husbandry are expected to attend the event.
Topics be discussed include opportunities and prospects for transforming ruminant livestock, poultry and pigs in Africa, delivery of animal inputs and advisory systems as well as capacity building and partnerships in animal agriculture. Others include data platforms for decision-making in animal agriculture and animal welfare and human livelihood dimensions.
The three day event will serve as a mechanism through which broader stakeholders and various technocrats such as scientists in the animal agriculture sector come together to share innovative ideas, and discuss the potential role of innovation in the sector as well as arrive at solutions to a number of identified challenges concerning animal agriculture.
The Conference will be under the auspices of major sector players namely, All Africa Society for Animal Production (AASAP), Ghana Animal Science and Association (GASA), Ghana Society of Animal Production (GSAP), and Forum of Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
The event is held every four years and what makes this year’s conference ground breaking is that the organizers are provided funding opportunities for participating graduate students.
The theme for the event is: Innovations to Harness the Potential of African Animal Agriculture in a Globalizing World.
