Chief Executive of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, Yang Yang has stated at the inauguration of the company’s new vehicle assembling plant/service centre at Nsawam that while the deported illegal gold mining queen; Aisha Huang has given cause for some Ghanaians to distrust Chinese workers in the country, there are many Chinese men and women who have invested millions into the country going about their legal and ethical work.
Madam Yang Yang used the occasion which was also to unveil its new Zonda Magic Van to share the strengths of the company.
“We provide unique customer service, give flexible payment terms to clients, have abundant spare parts in stock, possess quality human resource ensuring a win-win situation for both parties,” she submitted.
According to Madam Yang, Zonda Tec’s partnership with Sinotruck and CIMC has ensured the company is the largest heavy duty vehicle importer in the country adding “the company has offices or shops at Tema, Madina, Takoradi, Kasoa, Amasaman and now Nsawam with plans to open a new unit in Aflao.”
She disclosed, the company wouldn’t just be importing trucks anymore but will with the new plant assemble vehicles in the country noting 50 million Sinotrucks were sold globally in 2017 while over 50 million got sold in 2018 with projections showing before 2019 concludes, more than 50 million would be ordered for.
“My commitment to Ghana is clear as I have employed 200 people since stating operations in 2010. In September, I will inaugurate an assembly plant at Tema to boost operations but in the meantime drivers of our trucks will be trained on how to drive safely on the roads,” Mrs. Yang stressed.
Minister for National Security, Bryan Acheampong expressed joy for the Nsawam assembly plant noting the site of the plant used to be his father’s land on which he used to farm in the 1970s.
He stated as a client of Zonda Tec who has owned a truck for six years in addition to having a water truck, he is delighted with the advancements the company is making as it has been a key stakeholder since 2010.
He said government’s One-district, One-factory (1D1F) initiative aimed at having at least a factory in each district did not mean government had to establish the factories rather it is the player creating the enabling environment for private businesses to thrive and establish the factories for Government to partener and give incentives even as the businesses employ the masses and stimulate economic growth.
“The initiative can counter the menace of unemployment which has affected many,” he declared noting “Government’s partnership with Zonda in setting up the multimillion plant will enable the assembling of trucks, trailer heads, oil tankers, tricycles and mini vans.”
Mr. Acheampong was pleased to see Zonda which started out selling trucks imported from China as well as spare parts has now activated an assembly plant in the Eastern regional town of Nsawam. He urged the workers to not only be content to be employees but set out for skill transfer so they too can become people who set up assembly plants in 20 to 30 years.
The National Security capo touched on China’s productive activities the country spanning the US$6 billion concession loan for Ghana’s rail network expansion, fund for the Ofankor-Nsawam road, landing sites along the coastal sites, exchange programmes seeing Ghana students studying in Chinese universities.
Sales Manager at Sinotruck, Mr. Lu noted the partnership with Zonda Tec has been fruitful adding its truck is the leading one exported to Africa submitting “30,000 trucks are yearly shipped to Africa.”
He stated in 2018, 900 trucks were imported to Ghana with Zonda Tec being the biggest distributor taking stock of 500 trucks.
“We have every spare parts. Regular spare parts take one day to supply while non regular parts take 3 days to supply,” Mr. Lu mentioned stressing they are keen on ensuring trucks of clients run on the road executing business for them.
He said Sinotruck has partnered with a German company; MAN Diesel SE; manufacturers of large-bore diesel engines for its trucks.
Zonda Tec entered the Ghanaian automobile sector in 2010. ZONDA TEC MAGIC MINI VAN UNVEILING
At the unveiling of the Zonda Tec Magic Van, it emerged there was an 8-setaer and 11-seater. Zonda Tec’s Marketing Executive informed patrons the vans are fuel efficient coming with a 1.5 engine capacity.
He submitted institutions and individuals could use it for daily routines with transmission being 5 MT while weight is 1,850kg.
Brake system has front disc while the wheel has aluminum alloy rims of 14 diameters.
Head lamp is adjustable with fog light being strong. The Zonda Tec Magic Minivan also has power steering, air conditioners at the front and back, USB port, radio and good space for luggage.
The van’s under hood is solidly built for the tropics and is well lifted to move across rough terrains or better still potholes without jolting the body as it comes with solid shock absorbers.
The van also has a back axle with a productive lifespan of 6 years.
The 8-seater Zonda Tec Magic Minivan is selling for US$16,000 (GHc 82640.00) while the 11-seater goes for US$18,000 (GHc 92970.00).
