ASA Savings and Loans Limited, a subsidiary of ASA International, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme for 2018 has handed over a mechanized borehole to the Chiefs and People of Ansaful in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region.
As part of the ceremony, the company with support from health workers of the Winneba Government Hospital also organized a free health screening for the residents and distributed 100 mosquito nets to the people worth GHC20, 350.00.
Making the presentation, The Deputy Managing Director of the Company; Mr. Shah MD. Abdul Wahab, said as part of the company, it was also committed to supporting the continuous development within communities in its operational areas.
He said the CSR of the company also gave scholarships to brilliant but needy children, health screening with free medicine, donations to orphanages and underprivileged schools and construction of boreholes among others.
“In 2018, the company budgeted a total of GHC367, 500 to fund all its CSR activities in its operational areas in an attempt to give back to society by supporting the growth and development of deprived communities with some of their basic needs,” Mr. Wahab explained.
He noted that the construction of the borehole was to reduce the struggles women and children had to go through on daily basis in search of water for household activities especially during the dry season.
The Security and Legal Coordinator of ASA Savings, Mr. Theophilus Nartey, implored the community to institute a plan that would ensure the project was regularly maintained to prolong its lifespan to benefit future generations.
He charged them to own the projects and ensure it was always in the best of condition to provide easy access to clean portable water for the residents, saying such a situation would encourage the company to replicate in other deprived areas as well.
Nana Ansaful III, thanked the company for its kind gesture to the community which had been grappling with water problems for many years.
