…targets patrons in the sub region
The Ghana Trade Fair Company has launched the 2018 grand sales event, with the aim to project made in Ghana products and businesses.
The initiative, a flagship event by the company, has in the past years created the platform for companies and SMEs to sell their stocks at affordable prices to the generally public.
“This year’s programme, beginning from September 27 to October 8, 2018, is expected to host about 500 exhibitors, with both local and international patrons in the sub region. We are working with our exhibitors and encouraging them to offer moderate prices to every buyer,” Trade Fair’s CEO, Dr. Agnes Adu told the Goldstreet Business.
Strong focus, Dr. Adu said, will be placed on promoting locally made goods and services in order to enhance the call for citizens to consume what the country produces.
“So the main aim will be to create the market for about 80 percent of what Ghanaian entrepreneurs are currently manufacturing. Areas including fashion, food and drinks, household items including arts and crafts will be on the menu,” she said.
Though the event has been organized severally in the past, inadequate publicity has been said to be the bane for its success.
However, Dr. Adu said the 2018 sales will be different from the rest of the seven years for which the programmes has being in existence.
“What we are doing differently this year, is the partnership we have created with our sister agencies including the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and an impending partnership with the GIPC as the event draws closer,” she averred.
Deputy CEO of GEPA, Mr. Albert Kassim Diwura, suggested that the sales event be more focused on small and medium enterprises in order to offer them the market to exhibit their wares.
“It is refreshing that the Trade Fair with its partners, the GN Group, MTN and Nanogon Interactive is revitalization this event which has been on the low side for some time now. Young entrepreneurs must specifically capitalize on this to sell and grow their businesses,” he said.
