To avoid the instance of redundancies, administrative professionals have been advised to upgrade themselves to the current changes to the world of work.
Speaking at the Administrative Professional Association of Ghana (APAG) Week Educational Forum, Dr. Bernice Welbeck said, “the technological age has changed the role of administrative professionals from mere support staff to social partner, who have a stake in the business.”
This is because now the administrative professional must set the tone and form the rhythm on which the business must run, she added.
“If you do not make yourself relevant, the circumstances would make you irrelevant,” Dr. Welbeck stated.
Administrative professionals are the individuals who constitute the administrative support system of corporate Ghana and beyond.
They can be found using titles in workplaces such as administrative assistant, administrative secretary, executive administrative assistant, executive assistant, senior administrative assistant and even office manager.
The contemporary administrator is trained and certified to be multi-disciplined in order to employ strategic management principles, understand the basic principles and practices of marketing, as well as understanding the fundamentals of the financial mechanism.
