In a bid to provide the needed help for asthmatic patients in the country, the Eight Foundation has engaged it members to raise funds to purchase relievers.
Asthma is a common and chronic condition that inflames and narrow the air passage of lungs, causing wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing.
In an interview at the Fund fun games, the President of the Foundation, Eugene Ansu kyeremeh said, the objective of the Foundation is to create awareness and shedding light on the prevalent nature of asthma but yet often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed condition in the country.
The annual flagship sports event was held to raise funds and also network events,
“We are dedicated to offering education and logistical support in preventing and controlling of asthma and its associated complications,” kyeremeh said.
We have since 2017 provided supportive in the areas of medical screening, research advocacy, medication and soup kitchen, as well as medical equipment, among others, he added.
Other events held over the years towards this cause include:
- Eight Fete, where health screening are done and donations made to a selected community.
- Donation of asthma medication and equipment to SOS clinics nationwide. The recent one been Tema General Hospital.
- Asthma awareness creation in Madina.
The Foundation was established in April 2017 and was borne out of the desire by a group of friends to turn their personal tragedy – the loss of a friend, Naa-Adoley Bruce Koduah – into a good cause.
