The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has presented a cheque for GHc20, 000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) as part of the Authorities support for the 24th GJA awards this year.
The GTA has a long standing relationship with GJA and recognises the association’s role and the role of the media in promoting tourism domestically and internationally.
It is in this vein that the authority has come on board to offer its support as part of the ‘Year of Return, 2019’ celebrations to present the sponsorship package towards honouring writers and journalists who have made significant contributions on the domestic tourism landscape.
The GHc20, 000 the GTA noted, would be shared between the ‘Tourism Writer of the Year’ (electronics category), and the ‘Tourism Writer of the Year’ (print category).
The opening of the 24th GJA Media Awards was officially announced by the President of the GJA at the launch of the Association’s 70th anniversary on May 28, 2019.
It is the highlight of the GJA 70th anniversary, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast.
The awards are open to GJA members working in Ghanaian media establishments and cover broadcast or published works from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2018.
