The Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd, has presented the CBG Financial Journalist of the Year award to Mr Maxwell Akalaare Adombila of the Graphic Communications Group at the 24th Ghana Journalists Association awards night in Accra.
The winner of the category “Best Business, Finance and Economic Reporting Journalist of the year was rewarded with a special plaque.
Speaking on the award, Deputy Managing Director of CBG in charge of Operations, Thairu Ndungu, said “The category, titled ‘CBG Financial Journalist of the Year’ aims to encourage and drive innovation within the financial sector”.
Congratulating the 2018 Best Business, Finance and Economic Reporting Journalist Maxwell Akalaare Adombila, the Deputy Managing Director of CBG said, “Economic reporting plays a significant role in economic development and it is therefore important we find ways to encourage and strengthen Journalists’ contributions. Supporting the Business, Finance, and Economic category is one of the many ways we are championing the agenda to grow Ghana’s economy as a bank.”
He added “CBG commends you for this great achievement and we urge you to do more in terms of business, finance and economic reporting for the betterment of businesses and Ghana at large”.
Mr Ndungu, further assured that CBG in collaboration with GJA will continue to support the business, finance, and economic reporting category with awards and reward the operations of Journalists who are passionate to grow the sector. The Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) recently donated an amount of GHS25,000.00 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to support the GJA in celebrating its 70th anniversary activities and its 24th awards night.
The 70th Anniversary and 24th Awards ceremony of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) celebrated brilliant and deserving journalists in various categories of reporting in the country. This year’s awards event was on the theme: “Democracy, freedom and independence of the media in Ghana: 70 years of GJA’s contribution”.
