In a bid to empower women in the agricultural sector, the 3rd edition of Women in Food & Agriculture Leadership Forum & Expo (WOFAGRIC) & Gold in The Soil Awards has been launch in Accra.
WOFAGRIC will empower women, promote their works, expand their horizon, provide recognize and award their works and further mentor and inspire other women to venture into Agribusiness.
At the launch of the 3rd edition of Women in Food & Agriculture Leadership Forum & Expo (WOFAGRIC) & Gold in The Soil Awards, Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director, Agrihouse Foundation Ghana said, “with its consistency, WOFAGRIC will continue to play that facilitation role that has all this while largely been missing; and make it possible that deliberate attention is focused on women in agribusiness as this will help Ghana achieve and maintain even more growth in the agriculture sector.”
The event also serves as a leadership building, soft skills and competence-based training platform that recognizes, encourages and empowers small holder women farmers and women agripreneurs through motivational, training and mentoring sessions.
Furthermore, it equally gives women a voice in the Agricultural sector as an avenue to network with other agribusiness women.
The event also showcases through conferencing and exhibitions, the situation, works, products and services of women in agriculture in Ghana and beyond.
The event purely focuses on Women in Agriculture, whiles building capacity in the course of the 2-day event.
The Gold in the soil awards is a women-focused awards ceremony that brings to the lime-light women working, thriving and excelling in the field of agriculture. Identifying exceptional women who others can relate to via women-only awards is a step in providing the much-needed examples currently lacking in many traditional awards.
The organizing partners and Sponsors 2020 include the Canadian Embassy, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, National farmers and Fishermen Award winners Association of Ghana, WIAD, Absa, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), and Yara, among others.
