A facemask has become the new accompaniment in our day-to-day lives with its need growing rapidly and there has been a surging demand for surgical and reusable masks over the past one year. According to experts the market for facemasks is likely to grow at the rate of about 90%, generating considerable revenue across the globe.
Surgical masks and N95 respirators are used to prevent the spread of coronavirus and they fulfill the requirements of health workers and the general public alike.
China being the first country in the world where the virus was detected produces abundant number of facemasks and supplies them to the rest of the world. Several other countries (particularly South Korea) have increased the production of masks and contribute substantially to the supply chain. Homemade masks too have recorded sales worth $ 346 million and are actively marketed through the online platform.
Sale of facemasks has augmented the income of producers with limited capacities too.
