Ghanaian urban gospel group ‘Preachers’ have earned four nominations in this years; Africa Gospel Awards Festival scheduled for March 30 at the Action Dome in Accra.
The 2019 Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST) has the theme ‘Africa Under One God’. It is where works by gospel acts across the continent get honoured.
Ghana tops the list of countries with the most nominations, having earned 79 and according to the Chief Executive Officer of AGAFEST, Prince Mackay, nominations were made based on performances and songs released by gospel artistes from January 2017 to November 2018.
It is here that preachers made up of Obed Psych, Emani Beats and Edmund Baidoo hope to win in all the categories they’ve been nominated for.
They are contesting for the:
Rap Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year, Rap Hip Hop song of the Year and Group of the Year
The two-day event will feature an Africa Gospel Business Summit on day one and the Awards ceremony on day two.
The Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST) is an award event that recognizes and celebrates talents and hardworking gospel acts, ministry, mission projects, outreach and evangelism, charity works and many more works related to the Gospel across Africa.
Preachers since 2009 have relentlessly projected the urban gospel movement in Ghana having toured locally and internationally to preach the word of God through their music. In December 2015, the trio performed at Kenya’s popular “Totally Sold Out Concert” at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi and organized a conference dubbed “Ghana Meets Kenya Summit” at the Nairobi Cinema. In May 2016, they performed at the ‘Conquerors Through Christ Ministries’ auditorium in Pretoria, South Africa as part of their Bibles Up International Tour.
They have three studio albums titled Level Up, The Fearless Project and Mark 16:15. They have many hits to their credit including No Juju, Meyi Waye and Crazy (Crazy for God) which earned them 3 VGMA nominations in 2016.
The trio have won over 10 awards and received nominations in award schemes including Africa Gospel Music Awards in the United Kingdom, Ghana Urban Gospel Music Awards, Ghana Music Awards UK, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and MTN 4Syte TV Music Video Awards.
