The Ghana Tourism Authority will embark on a nationwide enforcement exercise beginning from June 3, 2019, to clamp down on all illegal tourism enterprises, a statement from the GTA copied to the Goldstreet Business has noted.
The Ghana Tourism Authority is mandated by the law under the Tourism Act, 2011 (Act 817) to register and license all tourism facilities (i.e Hotels, Guest Houses, Serviced Apartments, Hostels, Home Lodges, Restaurants, Fast Food Joints, Traditional Catering Establishments (Chop Bars), Drinking Bars, Travel Agencies, Movie Houses, Event Centres, Entertainment Centres, Pubs, Night Clubs, Tour Companies, Car Rental Companies etc)
All operators of unlicensed establishments who fail to register their operations on or before June 2, 2019, will have their establishments closed down with appropriate sanctions.
All Tourism Enterprises, the statement said, are therefore advised to contact any GTA Regional Office or the Head Office for necessary information on 0302682601.
