Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a working visit to Hubtel Limited wholly-owned Ghanaian software company which specializes in designing platforms for bulk messaging, payments, and digital commissions.
The company which rebranded from SMS GH to its current name warmly received the Vice President at its plush head office located at Kokomlemle in Accra on Tuesday.
Chief Executive Officer of Hubtel Limited, Alex Adjei Bram took Dr. Bawumia through the services the company offers after showing him around some offices in the Hubtel branded four-storey building.
Taking the Vice President through the services of the firm, Mr. Bram explained, “What Hubtel does is to create the platform bulk messaging, payments, and digital commissions. We basically started this company with just GHS15 but today we have branches over the world. Our first product was bulk SMS which helped to enhance the communication system of businesses.”
He also revealed young brains behind some of its finest products that yielded $20 million in revenue to the company.
According to him, “The average age of the workers here is 26.5 years, meaning the company is being run young people with myself being the CEO. We have branches across the Africa continent raking in some $20 million revenue.”
Dr. Bawumia lauded Hubtel and assured management of government’s commitment to creating the enabling environment for indigenous IT firms to thrive.
He said, “We are happy there is so much talent in Ghana in the indigenous IT firm. We as government want to create the environment for your business to thrive in education, revenue collection, data management and more. We want to encourage you and support and know what you are about so we can consider you in our policies.”
The Vice President’s duty call on Hubtel was one of the visits he made in the day.
