The e-Crime Bureau has been adjudged the Cyber Security Company of the year 2017 at the Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards 2018.
The company beat off competition from Spearhead Networks, Rom Consult and Integriti Media to win the coveted prize.
The award is in recognition of the bureau’s pioneering role and leadership in combating cyber-crime and the provision of e-crime solutions to government agencies, as well as, to private entities.
“This honour has been achieved through hard work and dedication to duty by our company and the fact that we want to take the activity of combating cyber-crime and fraud to a different dimension”, Dr. Kwame Antwi-Boasiako, board member of the e-Crime Bureau explained to the Goldstreet Business at the awards ceremony.
Dr. Antwi-Boasiako noted that the global increase in the use of cyber related activities, particularly in Ghana within the last few years, have also automatically increased the crime related activities associated with the use of computers and other gadgets connected to the internet.
“In regards to the increasing use of the internet, there must be a system to monitor against the abuse of cyber related activities for crime and fraud. That is the solution the e-Crime Bureau provides to its clients” he said.
The Bureau, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako, maintained is on the verge of commissioning offices nationwide to bring its services closer to prospective clients.
“The plan is to open offices nationwide, in all regional capitals. As a private company, we are growing gradually; we currently have operations in Kumasi”, he disclosed
At the ceremony, over 50 IT companies and individuals were honoured for their role and contributions to the growth of communication and information technology in the country.
