In a bid to develop a pool of high-level ICT professionals for the country, Huawei Ghana has started an ICT Talent Ecosystem Programme, with the launch of its ICT Training Center in Accra.
The launch of the Centre, which kicked start with a training programme that seeks to give the industry an opportunity to enhance ICT skills professionals to meet the increasing domestic and global demand.
The first training programme will run from December 3rd to 19th, 2018, with 21 trainees from Huawei’s local partners in Ghana including MTN Ghana, Vodafone Ghana, AirtelTigo Ghana, IPMC and National Identification Authority (NIA). The trainees will be taking the IP (Internet Protocol) HCNP (Huawei Certified Network Professional) Certification course which will see them become certified Huawei IP HCNP professionals.
Huawei will further carry out several ICT certification programs including the Huawei ICT Academy for university students and industry practitioners, providing industry recognized certification HCNA, HCNP, HCIE, across extensive ICT technologies.
In addition, to this programme, Huawei will next year organize events including an IP Competition and IP Club for tertiary students to promote a greater understanding of and interest in ICT while providing career defining opportunities to the students and professionals alike.
Tommy Zhou, Huawei Ghana Managing Director said, the launch is a platform to demonstrate that the young ICT talents in Ghana have the potential to become world-class experts.
“Today, Huawei is reiterating our commitment to working even more closely with partners across the continent to better equip the next generation of technology leaders. By enhancing industry-academic cooperation, Huawei as an international ICT Company, hopes to make their contribution to the ICT development in Ghana to pave way to achieving a Smart Ghana,” Zhou added
Deputy Minister for Communications, Vincent Sowah Odotei at the official unveiling of Huawei ICT Training Center indicated that the government is keen on ICT development and commended Huawei for the initiative.
Odotei also urged the trainees to take the program seriously to enable them use whatever they learn to contribute to the ICT development in Ghana.
