Goldmining firm, Newmont Ghana has presented a brand new 15-seater Van to the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) to help improve operations of the professional body.
The gesture is in response to a request made by the Institute this year. Speaking at the handing-over ceremony in Accra, Acting Regional Senior Vice President, Newmont Africa, Joshua Mortoti noted that Newmont took on the challenge to provide the support due to the positive impact GhIS members have had on its operations as a mining company.
He reiterated Newmont’s commitment to supporting the institute, saying: “we have a lot of surveyors amongst us and we know the impact the institution has on our operations”.
Mr. Mortoti further assured that, Newmont is keen on supporting other key stakeholders in its operations, especially from academic institutions
“We have a university strategy that is focused actively to support the universities that provide us with human resources, such as the University of Mines, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and University of Ghana,” he mentioned.
In receiving the donation, the President of GhIS, Egbert Kwadwo Hohoabu said the GhIS will put the Van to good use and for the purpose it has been donated.
