At least 2 people have been confirmed dead from the Krofrom explosion which occurred on Tuesday, November 20.
The explosion happened around Prime Gas station located near a car washing bay, on the road from the main Krofrom traffic light, through the popular Columbia area towards Tafo Nhyiaeso.
At least 31 vehicles and other properties have been destroyed and reports say the fire started from a mechanic shop close by.
With 11 people battling for their lives, a government delegation visited the scene and those in the hospital receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Tafo Government Hospital.
Chief Executive for the NPA, Hassan Tampuli in the company of Deputy Energy Minister; Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam declared the medical bill of victims will be borne by the NPA and the Energy ministry.
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has ordered an indefinite closure of the Prime Gas retail outlet at Krofrom in the Ashanti Region. Meanwhile 23 out of 26 gas stations within the Kumasi metropolis have been labelled high risk.
