Bureau of Public Safety, Executive Director; Nana Yaw Akwada is calling for the audit reports prepared after public safety breaches.
He is call comes in the wake of the cave in of parts of the Kumasi City Mall. The Kumasi incident is the second to be recorded at a Ghanaian mall in two months although this time no casualty was recorded. In October 2018, Accra Mall’s iPhone shop and its surrounding shops had their roofs cave in injuring three.
The mall which cost US$95 million to build spanning 24 months and opened to public on April 20, 2017 is operated by Delico Property Limited serving thousands of residents in the Ashanti Region.
“Audit reports must be made public as public safety is a shared a responsibility. Disclosure of the various reports on structural breaches can help us all police the system to watch out when a building owner is disregarding a report’s recommendation,” Mr. Akwada stressed.
