On July 28, residents of Accra and live music lovers especially will gather at the Republic Bar, Osu, Accra to watch the new sensation Ssue, coming from the studios of Scratch Music.
Born Susan Amoakohene in the US but now domiciled here, she is a well-rounded artist whose voice and stagecraft has been described as an amalgam of the soul divas like Gladys Knight, to the Nu Soul of Sade Adu and Alicia Keys to the polyphonic rhythms of an Angelique Kidjo all rolled into one explosive artiste. Traversing the various genres of music: from the raunchy RnB to soul and sultry Nu Soul-Jazz to percussive Afrobeat she has the voice to project all these forms using her strong voice to make a statement.
In addition to the above she comes primed like a volcano and erupts on stage performing with strong vocal power and awesome dance routines that has so far shone a refreshing light on the rather stale Ghana music scene.
Her upcoming performance at Republic Bar is her pre-Ghana tour appearance which will also take her to Alliance Francais, the Republic Bar on July 18, On Fire Concert at Alliance Francaise and the Explosion of Life billed for August 4 at +233 Jazz Bar and Grill featuring special guest stars singer Pat Thomas, saxophonist Steve Bedi and Imma Emmanuel. On August 10, she will feature in a concert tagged ‘SSUE- Holding back the years’ at the Wanshi Exclusive Events Centre where she will feature the world famous African Youth Orchestra.
