Management of Vivo Energy Ghana, at a ceremony, has awarded companies and individuals who have successfully transported Shell’s products in 2017 without any incident.
The company disclosed that the ceremony is an annual affair to honour transporters who undertake high risk activities, whilst working safely and professionally.
Vivo Energy’s MD, Mr. Ebenezer Faulkner, addressing guests at the event, said, “our commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest international Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards are at the heart of our business and a key differentiator for us.”
To this end, the company, he explained would consistently invest in training, technology and the adoption of best safety practices to improve on its performance.
Mr. Faulkner indicated that the transporters who form an integral part of the Vivo Energy business, make it possible for quality Shell fuels, lubricants and bitumen to reach the company’s numerous sites and customers across the country.
Individuals from Vivo’s three transporters, namely, J.K Ahiadorme Transport, J.K Horgle Transport and S.O Frimpong Transport were awarded in various categories including aviation fuel transporters and bitumen transporters.
“It is noteworthy that our three transporters in 2017 conveyed approximately 592 million litres with about 200 trucks over a distance of nearly six million kilometres without a single incident. They have also amassed 2963 Goal Zero Days, which is, nine years running without an accident,” Mr. Faulkner disclosed.
At the event, S.O Frimpong Transport Limited was adjudged the best Transporter for the year 2017, with a score of 4.99 out of 5 points culminating into 91.4 percent performance.
Three companies, Universal Engineering, Metalcraft Engineering and Build Us Limited, were also awarded the best contractor in the HSSE category.
The Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission, Mrs. May Obiri Yeboah, who was the special guest, commended the company for encouraging its transporters for adhering to safe driving on the road.
“It is refreshing that such awards come to deepen the importance of ensuring that other companies also follow regulations, which are required to promote road safety and incident-free transportation of fuel across the country,” she said.
