The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has honoured the Despite Media Group for consistent support of public education efforts of activities of the Authority regarding tax education.
Instructively, the GRA has awarded the Group, the “Best Media House for 2018 for helping to disseminate tax information”.
In a citation, the GRA said, “particularly in 2018, media houses of the Group gave a number of free-air time to the Authority to educate taxpayers on pertinent tax issues to enhance their understanding.
The citation continued that reporters of the group regularly calls the GRA to seek clarity on matters that became topical.
It said, media outlets in the group, including Peace FM, Hello FM, UTV and peacefmonline greatly assisted the authority to create awareness on tax issues.
Speaking to the Goldstreet Business, General Manager of Despite Group of Companies, Kennedy Osei, dedicated the award to all staff of the company and said, the honour would encourage them to do more for the country.
“We want to thank the GRA for this recognition but more importantly, this award will enable us not to be complacent but rather offer more to elevate the country to higher heights,” he said.
At the event, Scancom Ghana Limited, MTN emerged the Overall Best Taxpayer 2018 in the Large Taxpayer Category followed by Newmont Ghana Gold Limited.
The Best Indigenous Company Award winner in the Large Taxpayer Category went to Kasapreko Company Limited.
The Overall Best Worker 2018 went to Randy Kofi Adu, whilst the Extraordinary Performance Award Winner for 2018 went to Lydia Obeng Adjei of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The Best Development Partner Award went to DANIDA, with the Media Personality Award going to Elvis Darko of the Finder Newspaper.
