Chairman for Validation Oversight Committee (VOC) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly; Nana Agyenim Boateng who doubles as the Chief of Amoaman has assured Kumasi traders that issues of nepotism and favouritism will not be entertained in the distribution of stalls at the completed Kejetia Phase 1 Market.
“All traders will be given their allotted shops to carry out their businesses; no protocol list would be encouraged in the shops sharing. We will ensure that all shops/ stores are given out to the rightful beneficiaries,” Nana Agyenim Boateng stressed.
The committee’s resolve on the allocation of the shops is aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency and as well build trust between committee members and the traders.
Traders are entitled to rent the shops for a period of five years subject to a renewal; the VOC chairman declared at a recent stakeholders meeting at the Kumasi Cultural Centre on May 7 witnessed by the Goldstreet Business Newspaper.
The traders have undergone briefing on various rental premiums on each store with flexible payment terms to boot.
It emerged per the varying rental values for the five year period, the least price announced stands at GHc7,800 for a store size of 2.2 metre square(M2) with GHc48,000 for a 12 M2 size.
Traders per the payment module will be allowed to make daily payments, a mechanism to settle the price value of their respective stores till the expiration years.

Nana Agyenim Boateng mentioned other stores are priced at GHc28,500, GHc25,800, GHc18,600, GHc 18,000, GHc 9,420 and GHc 6,720.
Chief Executive Officer for KMA, Hon. Osei Assibey stated that traders must embrace the varying premiums on the Kumasi Central Market stores.
“Appreciate the prices of the shops, they are far much affordable than those that are privately owned,” he declared.
Despite the price reductions, a good number of the traders are unsatisfied noting high cost of the stalls and stores.
“We are not satisfied with the premiums, they too expensive, we are highly disappointed,” Nana Prempeh, Chairman of Kejetia Petty Traders Association noted.
