The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) is introducing a new trade facilitation platform at the ports.
Deputy Managing Director of GCNet, Mr. Emmanuel Darko stated a custom management system and new trade facilitation tool to address gaps in identified areas of revenue mobilisation will be introduced in March while engaging policy makers, transit traders and other stakeholders to acquaint them on the functionality of the system to be deployed.
Mr. Darko reckoned the new system will enable advance passenger manifest to be known and enhance the inspection system while committing itself to supporting government revenue mobilisation agenda and plugging revenue leaks.
He held there was no need reinventing the wheel by having another company duplicating what they are already delivering efficiently.
The Single Window system jointly operated by GCNet and Customs World Dubai (West Blue) was to be unplugged for a new system to be installed following the entry of South Korean company UNIPASS.
UNIPASS that has Ghana Link Network Services as its local partner in March 2018 was awarded a US$40 million 10-year Single Window contract to provide paperless services at the port but there has been allegation the company was only duplicating what was already in use leading to a freeze order.
The GCNet Deputy capo made the submissions at the fifth thanksgiving service of the network; an annual event to express gratitude to God for his blessings.
