Government through the Ministry of Aviation has engaged the Canadian Government in a collaborative effort to boost the prospects of the aviation sector, particularly with the country’s imminent home-based carrier.
Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda in meeting with the Canadian Ambassador, Heather Cameron said, Ghana is seeking to acquire some aircrafts to add to the fleet of the Home-Based Carrier that would start operation in second quarter 2019.
The Minster indicated that government would also be tapping into Canadian export credit facilities that can be made available to acquire some aircrafts.
There are indications that the Carrier would start operations with at least eight aircrafts, which should include some Bombardier Q400 from Canada.
“…there is lots of potential for growth for Ghana’s airline, but beyond the aircrafts itself there is other strategies through data collection, training and other services which we think that Canadian companies and our two government working together can help to develop the aviation sector,” said Cameron.
