Ghanaian movie lovers travelling on Emirates can look forward to a home-grown film at 40,000ft as “My Very Ghanaian Wedding” makes a debut this March on ice, Emirates award-winning inflight entertainment system.
The romantic comedy, written and directed by Helen Smith, centers on love tradition and culture, and how it determines the fate of a young couple. When Paul, a Ghanaian man is engaged to a woman chosen by his mother, but falls in love with a beautiful stranger, can he stand up to his mother to make his own decisions in life?
The hit comedy which was released at the end of 2018, stars award-winning actors such as cinema veteran Grace Omaboe, popularly known as “Maame Dokono”, Dzifa Glikpo and Adjetey Annan, affectionately called “Pusher”. The movie will be amongst the over 1,000 movies available on ice which offers passengers up to 4,000 channels of on-demand entertainment.
Earlier this year, Emirates introduced an innovative new function on the Emirates app which allows customers to create bespoke playlists ahead of their flight and sync it to their seats once on board. Customers can now browse the unmatched content on offer and create personal entertainment playlists at their leisure and once comfortably settled in their seats on board, simply sync and press play.

Emirates ensures its youngest customers are catered for with a large selection of children’s movies and TV channels. In addition to over 75 Disney, Marvel, and children’s movies there are also over 50 TV channels, including Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, CBeebies & the Disney Channel.
ice also features varied content such as Emirates’ own Food and Wine Channels giving customers a behind-the-scenes look at how it creates its onboard menus; expert-led LinkedIn Learning courses; as well as uTalk language courses offering lessons for beginners.
March promises to be an exciting month for Ghanaian travelers on Emirates. They will get the opportunity to experience Emirates’ award-winning cabin crew of which over 120 are Ghanaians, watch a Ghanaian movie while enjoying a chef-prepared regionally-inspired meals such as; “Waakye” or “Jollof” using the freshest ingredients, accompanied by a wide range of complimentary wines and beverages.
Emirates flies daily from Accra to Dubai and 158 destinations in 86 regions. The airline is set to increase its flights to 11 weekly flights from 2nd June, 2019 following the announcement of four additional weekly flights to Accra.
