Ghanaians in the United Kingdom (UK) can heave a sigh of relief following an announcement by Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister; Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey that government has taken a decision to review visa fees charged by Ghana’s Mission downwards with plans to replicate the cut at other missions.
She made the call when she addressed diplomats and a section of Ghanaians on her foreign trip to mark Ghana’s 62nd Independence anniversary celebration in London noting the fee review will advance Ghana-UK mutual relationship.
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey further rallied Africans in the diaspora to make trips back to Ghana and get reconnected to their roots and help make economic contributions during the ‘Year of Return’ celebration observing: “I am hopeful that participating in this event will enable many of our compatriots to take the bold step of moving back home and contributing to the development of our motherland.”
With the forming of the United Kingdom/Ghana Business Council, it is expected that trade, investment and tourism shall be stimulated between the two countries.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom; Papa Owusu Ankomah, took great pride in his office adopting policies which has reduced the involvement of Ghanaians in criminal activities in the UK.
