Three Colombian nationals Mario Andres Huertas Ramos, Juan David Huertas Ramos and Angie Xiomara Saboya Benavidez have volunteered at the Universal Wonderful Street Academy based in Jamestown in Accra.
The three, during their ten-month volunteering experience, taught children of the academy basic lessons in arithmetic, English and social skills, including management skills, leadership skills among others.
Mario was excited about his experience with the children and how wonderful it was, teaching them news things to make their lives better. He commended the Director of the UWSA, Louis Wonder for his foresight and vision towards the children and offering them opportunities to become future leaders.
Juan also appreciated the organization of the academy and commended Louis for sacrificing to offer a better life for. He commended the synergy between the children, the leadership of the school and the community as awesome.
Angie on the other hand also shared his experience within the ten months and said, the UWSA will always be on her mind as she returned to Colombia.
Director of the UWSA, Louis Wonder, congratulate the three volunteers for spending such an awesome time with the children and teaching them new things.
“I was impressed when I had the letter from them for the volunteering opportunity. I was amazed at the level of humility, love and affection they’ve shown the children. I will be happy to welcome them over again” Louis said.
Louis thanked the volunteers and asked Ghanaians to emulate their example by developing the spirit of volunteerism to help one another.
The UWSA, is a non-governmental organization based in Jamestown Accra. It provides free tuition, free meals and medical care to over 200 children in the Jamestown and its environs.
