Fast moving consumer goods company; Unilever Ghana Limited has launched World Oral Health Day on March 16, 2019 ahead of the substantive March 20 day at the Lodge Tavern opposite the Peduase Lodge with a health walk and dental screening exercise.
The walk which started at the Ayi Mensah Police Barrier saw Unilever employees; press men and women as well as Unilever related parties put their bodies to the test on the 56km walk from the valley to the Aburi Hills.
After the dental screening which saw dentists check the oral hygiene state of participants and advising on the proper way of brushing, an aerobics session was staged involving men, women and young ones.
For her part, Madam Cynthia Hiram Yaro; Internal Communications Manager of Unilever Ghana explained the World Oral Health Day is set aside every year to encourage day as well as night brushing in ensuring oral hygiene.

“We are targeting to have 1.2 million pupils brush their teeth day and before bedtime in improving oral hygiene practice,” Madam Yaro stated.
She said although basic schools are the prime target of the yearlong campaign, malls and lorry stations are being visited to orient adults on the need to help the young ones brush their teeth at least twice a day and properly.
As part of the publicity effort, the Internal Communications Manager declared a mini documentary will be screened on March 20 on pepsodent’s impact in helping Ghanaians maintain their teeth, gums and tongue hygienically avoiding tooth decay.
World Oral Health Day is observed annually on 20 March, and launches a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene. It is recommended that toothbrushes are change once every 3 month while a visit to the dentist yearly is ideal.
