Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has revealed plans to construct six additional youth resource centres to serve Ghana’s newly created regions.
This announcement comes as part of broader efforts to address infrastructure gaps and promote youth development across the country.
Speaking in an interview with ChannelOne News, Ayariga discussed the state of the existing centres, noting that out of the ten initially planned for Ghana’s former ten regions, only two located in the Upper West and Eastern Region have been fully completed.
The remaining eight centres remain unfinished, a situation Ayariga promised to resolve.
“The 10 youth development centres that were being constructed (under the past administration), of which only two were completed.
“Based on the promise of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, I can tell you emphatically that we shall complete the rest of the youth development centres and also construct new ones to take care of the six other new regions.”
Ayariga also emphasized the NYA’s commitment to rehabilitating existing facilities, highlighting the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex as a key priority during his tenure.
Following a recent inspection of the dilapidated complex, he assured that efforts to restore it would remain a focus for the NYA.
