In view of government’s industrial initiatives, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Nesrin Bayazit has indicated that more companies from Turkey are looking into the possibilities to be part of the 1D1F initiatives.
The Ambassador said “in Ghana, we have more than 150 companies operating, both small and big. Now even bigger companies are coming and we are looking into possibilities of contributing to the governments 1D1F programme.”
She made this known in an interview after paying a courtesy call on the Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda.
Bayazit noted that her embassy is working with the Ministry of Trade and Industry to bring all this project to life.
She also expressed the interest of Turkish Airlines in partnering the government of Ghana in the establishment of a home-based carrier.
“We are interested in other projects too and we looking at the possibility of doing more business with the Ministry of Aviation, among others,” the Ambassador said, adding, Ghana can leverage on the expertise of the Turkish aviation industry.
“We are hearing a lot about the national airline in Ghana and that some companies have already been mentioned and we hope that Turkish airlines could be one of those companies. Recently in Albania, a new national airline has been established with the assistance of Turkish airlines, so maybe we can talk about how we can do same in Ghana,” she indicated.
In response, the Aviation Minister noted that government is yet to consider the proposals received, in order to select a preferred partner.
Mr. Adda called for collaboration between both countries in areas of pilot training and other critical sectors needed in Ghana’s aviation sector.
Currently, airlines that have shown interest in Ghana’s Home-Based Carrier includes, Air Mauritius, Abu Dhabi Airlines as well as Ethiopian Airlines.
