According to the 1st Vice President of the Association, Mr. E. Forkuo Kyei, the essence of the visit was to pay the Association’s respect and congratulate His Majesty on the occasion of the celebration of 20 years of his reign as Asantehene. He said that the Association was grateful for Otumfuo’s exemplary leadership and achievements in education, health, peace and security in Asanteman and the nation as a whole. His role in the resolution of protracted chieftaincy disputes and land related litigations were also worth noting. He prayed for God’s guidance as well as long life and good health for His Majesty, so that he will continue to offer services to Asanteman and mother Ghana.
His Majesty said that insurance was the bedrock of all financial arrangements in the world, and he looked forward to a vibrant insurance industry playing its role effectively. He was of the view that insurance was the surest way of long-term fund mobilization for the country’s developmental projects including infrastructure and housing. While banks provide short-term loans, insurance operations is basically long-term and looked forward to a strong collaboration between the two sectors so that the country will develop. Such collaboration shall ensure that banks will be able to offer duly insured mortgages to employees so that the housing deficit challenge in the country will be appropriately addressed.
He thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them of his support in their endeavours in the foreseeable future. In attendance were Board Members of GIA as well as CEOs and Staff of insurance companies.
